Hannibal Regional Medical Group is pleased to announce the addition of Santhosh Mannem, MD to their team. As an interventional cardiologist Dr. Mannem is trained to perform catheter-based treatments for heart disease, such as placing stents in clogged arteries. Dr. Mannem earned his medical degree from Osmania Medical College and completed his interventional cardiology fellowship training at Baystate Medical Center.
When asked why he chose to pursue interventional cardiology Dr. Mannem says, “Very early on in medical school, I was really fascinated by the cardiac pathophysiology and therapeutics available to relieve the suffering of patients with heart conditions and my interest blossomed in cardiology after taking care of cardiac emergencies during residency.” Dr. Mannem feels that the most rewarding part of his job is the satisfaction from being able to help patients suffering from acute heart attacks and then seeing them become completely chest-pain free.
“I like the small town feel of Hannibal and particularly chose Hannibal Regional to continue to improve its cardiac specialty care to be a top tier program in the country,” shares Dr. Mannem. “I grew up in India reading Tom Sawyer's books as a kid and feel extremely lucky to come to Hannibal and relive my childhood memories.”
Dr. Mannem is accepting patients at Hannibal Regional Medical Group, to contact his office call 573-629-3500.
