Hannibal Regional Honored for their Organ Donation Support Bookmark

Every day 20 people in the United States die while waiting for a life-saving organ transplant and every 10 minutes another name is added to the national transplant waiting list. Over 100,000 men, women and children are waiting for life-saving organs and while up to 95% of the U.S. adult population supports organ donation, only 54% are actually signed up as donors.

Hannibal Regional and Mid-America Transplants help families alleviate the grief of losing a loved one by making the life-saving decision to help others in need.

Hannibal Regional was recently recognized by Mid-America Transplant for their life-saving work in organ and tissue donations in 2017 and presented with the Gift of Life Medal.

Last fall, a donor’s family made the decision to donate two kidneys. That generous decision resulted in saving the lives of two different people from Illinois. One of them had been on the list for over five years.

April was recently proclaimed National Donate Life Month and Hannibal Regional would like raise awareness of the life-saving potential we all have as donors. One organ donor can save up to eight lives. For more information about organ donation, you can visit: or
